Sharon Duce Unit 16 P1

Task 1
For the first task I will be looking at some websites of different photographers. I will be doing this so that I can comment on how they’ve set their information and photography out. I will also look at how they promote their work on social networking sites.

Rankin

Rankin has an effective homepage as the layout is simple and easy to navigate. Although the layout is good the text could be bigger so that all variations of viewers find it as easy to read all of the text. The large image that is in the middle of the page is on a loop with several other images that is a show of some of Rankin’s work and some of the exhibition that he has going on at the minute. One of the social networking sites that Rankin has linked to his website is Tumblr, this is a good idea as then he has more advertising for his social networking sites, as well as Tumblr Rankin has links to his Twitter and Facebook pages. Another thing that I like about Rankin’s webpage is that there isn’t much writing that is distracting you from the photography that is the main object on the website.
David LaChapelle

Just like with Rankin’s webpage layout LaChapelle has minimalistic writing on the home page of his webpage. Although I think that there should be a block colour behind the text as part of it is hard to read due to part of the picture being a similar colour. LaChapelle doesn’t have any links to any social networking sites this means he has no extra advertising for his images. The image that is on LaChapelle’s home page is exceptionally eye catching at it is a bright, colourful image that has an interesting content.
Martian Parr

Unlike Rankin and David LaChapelle, Martin Parr doesn’t have any writing on the home page unless you hover over the icons at the op of the page. On the home page Parr has some of his most recent work on a loop or he has a review/ information on a show that he has had work in. the images that are on the loop are always eye catching and colourful. Just like LaChapelle, he doesn’t have links to his; Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr accounts.
Task 2
For task two we had to colour correct some of our images that we will be putting into our portfolios.

Task 3
For task 3 i had to produce a professional portfolio for a start up business using my own images.

Task 4
For task 4 we had to create a self promotional postcard.

Task 5

With the Veggie Runners I believe that I handled their business very well as I kept in constant contact with them and made sure that the images they were given are the images that they wanted from the partnership. I do also believe that if they needed any more advertising images that there could be the possibility of them getting in contact with me. For my portfolio of images, that has been presented to the Veggie Runners, I chose images from each shoot that fit with the brief that Jayne gave us at our first meeting. The reason that I chose the image that I did for the front cover is because to me it is the image that best shows what the Veggie Runners are about.
